
According to GFK’s Custom Research division, 1 in 2 `portable music players` sold in 2006 was a mobile telephone. In this category, the Research division included both digital audio players and dual-role mobiles capable of reading audio files. GFK thinks that in 2007, two out of three will be mobile telephones.
If more and more cellphones have integral music functions ( 50% of the market in 2007), the actual use of those functions after purchase remains relatively rare. In fact, only 14% of all users listen to music on their mp3phone. On the other hand, among 15-20 year olds , the figure rises to 59% .
Taking that into account, I think more and more runners will use their cell for running to music.
