Last month the Jiwok team had the great pleasure of attending the 30th annual New York Marathon.
No, we did not run (next time, maybe ), but were there to experience the biggest marathon in the world, the electric running atmosphere, and to introduce Jiwok to the international running community.
The weather was glorious, spirits were high, and the runners were pumped.
New York hosted another brilliant expo, complete with celebrity athletes such as Ryan Hall, live running demos by Gatorade, great products for sale from Asics, Nike and Adidas, all of course dominated by the pre-marathon runner’s buzz you can find nowhere else.
We participated in the United Nations 5K Friendship Run the day before the marathon. What a rush to be with runners from all over the world, loud and proud with their flags, jogging through the streets of Manhattan on a brisk November morning; an experience never to be forgotten.
Watching the runners finish their momentous last few steps in Central Park under the brilliant sunshine and colourful autumn leaves, listening to the cheers of 2 million spectators would give even the most ‘anti-runner’ inspiration to try a marathon.
Tempting you yet? The Paris Marathon is in April, and they have teamed up with Jiwok to offer training with music, as well as a unique ‘touristic’ training program (English version will be ready soon). Consider the City of Light for your first (or next) marathon (the perfect time to start training is after Christmas). Hurry, there are only a few spaces left!
In the meantime, here’s a heartwarming video from this year’s marathon from Asics campaign ‘Support your Marathoner’, to warm your cockles.
